The great strength of VDL Belgium metalworking is that the entire process remains transparent; from the actual machining of metal through to responsibility and control.

At VDL Belgium, we have our own toolmaking department specialising in the metal industry. All the necessary tools are designed at VDL Belgium by our own qualified toolmakers or by qualified external companies, depending on the number of tools to be produced.

VDL Belgium’s machinery includes the following machines, among others, which can handle both simple and complex 3D laser-cutting requirements. These machines (tube lasers) make it possible to laser-cut tubes in 3D in various ways.

With the Adige LT8.10 3D tube laser cutting machine and the BLM LT-Free 3D tube laser (5-axis), VDL Belgium delivers top quality in tube and box-section laser cutting. Our expertise ranges from the simplest to the most complex operations, including tube laser cutting. We can also assist you with (3D) laser cutting.

VDL Belgium has 15 CNC tube-bending machines, enabling us to bend all kinds of tube shapes.

The term robot welding doesn’t contain the word ‘robot’ for nothing. The human factor in welding is largely eliminated. This makes it possible to achieve high-quality welds that consistently meet the same tolerances. In addition, costs are reduced because production time is shortened. Robot welding is therefore a very attractive alternative to manual welding.

MIG/MAG welding is also known as semi-automatic welding. MIG stands for Metal Inert Gas. MAG stands for Metal Active Gas. This is a widely used welding technique that we use on steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

TIG welding is a form of electric arc welding, just like MIG/MAG welding. Electric arc welding is a welding process that can achieve a very high quality of weld. However, the welder’s expertise and skill are crucial. TIG stands for Tungsten Inert Gas and is also known as GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding). Tungsten is the English term for the Dutch word for wolfram.

Cobot welding comes from the English words: Collaborative Robot(s). As the name suggests, they are literally robots that work together. Humans and machines work together.
